Rafael Messias (b. 1985, São Paulo) is a visual artist and photographer based in Amsterdam. With over a decade of experience in documentary photography across Brazil and abroad, his work captures the complexity of contemporary social landscapes through a distinct and sensitive lens.
His practice today expands into fashion and commercial photography, where his documentary roots inform a striking visual authenticity. Recently, painting has also become a vital extension of his language - merging image, gesture, and material to blur the boundaries between disciplines.
